Judo
Judo is a Japanese art stemming from the older Samurai art of Jiu-Jitsu. Judo became popular as an international sport when it was introduced to the world in the 1964 Olympics. The art is known for its use of throws, takedowns and grappling.
Our Judo classes are taught by Sensei Richard Hugh. Mr. Hugh has been involved with Judo since 1953. He is known worldwide as a Judo coach and international Judo referee.
Systema “No rules, no belts, no nonsense!” Systema means “The System” and is a native Russian Martial Art that is virtually unheard of in the West. It was first developed by the Cossacks and Russian Warriors to repel invaders to their land. Systema was kept secret in modern times by the former Soviet Union and taught only to the elite Special Forces units known as the Speznatz. Systema is unique in its approach to self defense. There are no belts, no forms, and no prearranged techniques. Concepts and principles of motion are taught based on the natural movements of the human body. Systema is not just a fighting art, but a “System” for living. For more information on Systema visit www.systemadelaware.com.
